Detailed Information
🐦 Bird's Nest Sansevieria – The plant you can't kill!
Meet the Sansevieria trifasciata 'Hahnii' – the compact and cute version of the Snake Plant (Sansevieria). Its short, wide leaves form a low rosette that looks like a bird's nest – hence the name! An almost unkillable plant: it survives neglect, lack of light, skipped watering, heat, cold... in short, the perfect plant for anyone who thinks they don't have a "green thumb"! 💪
🌤️ Growing Conditions
☀️ Lighting: Almost anything! From bright indirect light to shade. It survives even in dark rooms. Better light = faster growth and stronger colors.
💧 Watering: Very little! Once every 2-3 weeks in summer, once a month in winter. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. The only thing that kills a Sansevieria is too much water!
🌡️ Temperature: 10-35°C (50-95°F). Tolerates extreme heat and relative cold. Not below 5°C (41°F).
🌱 Soil: Very well-draining! Cactus mix or regular potting soil with plenty of perlite. Drainage = life!
💦 Humidity: Doesn't need special humidity. Does great with the dry air of AC and heating.
🐦 What's special about the Bird's Nest?
🪹 Nest shape! – The short, wide leaves are arranged in a rosette that looks just like a bird's nest. Compact and sweet.
📏 Compact – Unlike the regular Sansevieria (Snake Plant) which grows tall, the Bird's Nest stays low – just 15-20 cm. Perfect for a desk!
🎨 Designed leaves – Dark green with light horizontal stripes, and a pointed leaf tip. Minimalist and modern look.
📍 Suitable locations
🪑 Living room/Dining table – Compact and stylish, perfect as a tabletop plant.
📚 Shelf or bookcase – Small and stable, doesn't need much space.
💼 Office – Survives AC, fluorescent lighting, and forgotten watering. The perfect office plant.
🚿 Bathroom – Even without a window! Tolerates shade conditions.
🏢 Entryway/Hallway – Survives in areas with minimal light.
✅ Benefits
💪 Unkillable – Survives neglect, dryness, heat, cold, darkness. The toughest plant there is.
💧 Almost no water needed – Once every 2-3 weeks. Forgot? It will forgive you.
📏 Compact – 15-20 cm, fits anywhere.
🎨 Minimalist and beautiful – A modern design that fits every style.
🐣 Produces "pups" – Spreads with offsets that you can separate to get new plants!
⚠️ Important to know
💧 The only thing that kills a Sansevieria = water! – Overwatering causes root rot. When in doubt – don't water. Better dry than wet!
🚿 No water inside the rosette! – Don't pour water into the center of the "nest." Water remaining between the leaves causes rot. Water only the soil.
🪴 Drainage is a must! – Pot with drainage holes + well-draining soil. No drainage = certain death from rot.

🐦 Care Tips
💧 Less water = better – Rule #1: When in doubt, don't water. Let the soil dry out completely before the next watering.
🌿 Fertilizing – Cactus/succulent fertilizer once every month or two during spring-summer only. Not strictly necessary.
🧹 Cleaning leaves – Wipe dust off the leaves with a damp cloth. Clean leaves = more light = healthier plant.
🐣 Separating pups – When side shoots grow, you can separate them with roots and plant in a separate pot. Perfect gift!
🪴 Repotting – Only when very crowded. Sansevieria likes to be crowded! Every 2-3 years is enough. 🐦
❓ FAQ
❓ What's the difference between the Bird's Nest and the Snake Plant? – Both are Sansevieria! The Snake Plant ('Laurentii') grows tall (60-120 cm) with long, upright leaves. The Bird's Nest ('Hahnii') is compact (15-20 cm) with short leaves that form a rosette.
❓ Can I put it in a windowless room? – For a limited time, yes, Sansevieria survives. But in the long run, even it needs some light. Fluorescent/LED lighting is enough.
❓ The leaves are becoming soft and limp – what happened? – Probably too much water! Check the roots. If soft and brown = rot. Trim rotted roots, dry, and plant in new dry soil.
❓ Suitable for beginners? – This is the first plant you should buy! If you managed to kill a Sansevieria – you probably watered too much 😄
❓ Suitable as a gift? – Definitely! Compact, beautiful, and almost impossible to kill. The perfect gift for those who don't yet know they love plants! 🐦🌿
