Growing Conditions
☀️ Lighting
Bright indirect light - ideal. But it tolerates almost everything! From low to bright light. Avoid direct strong sun - it can scorch the leaves. Variegated varieties need more light to maintain their colors.
💧 Watering
Moderate - every 7-10 days. Allow the top inch to dry out between waterings. Its fleshy roots store water - it forgives neglect! Tip: Use filtered water - it is sensitive to fluoride and chlorine (which cause brown tips).
💨 Humidity
Does fine with normal humidity! No special care needed. However, it appreciates occasional misting, especially in winter when heaters dry out the air.
🌡️ Temperature
Normal room temperature. 18-24°C is ideal. Do not let it drop below 10°C. Keep away from cold drafts and direct heat sources (radiators, air conditioners).
Common Problems and Solutions
🟤 Brown Tips
The most common problem! Usually caused by: fluoride/chlorine in tap water (use filtered water or let tap water sit for 24 hours), dry air, or over-fertilizing.
💛 Yellow Leaves
Usually overwatering. Ensure the soil dries out between waterings and that it has good drainage. It can also be due to lack of light or old leaves shedding (which is normal).
🕷️ Not producing "babies"
The plant needs to be mature (1-2 years old) and slightly root-bound in its pot to produce plantlets. It also needs enough light. Avoid over-fertilizing - this encourages leaves instead of "babies".
🌿 Pale/Faded Leaves
A sign of insufficient light, especially in variegated varieties. Move to a brighter spot. The white stripes will become greener in low light conditions.

👶 The "babies" - the famous plantlets!
A mature spider plant produces long stems with small white flowers, followed by - "babies"! These small plantlets look like little spiders hanging from the mother (hence "Spider Plant"). You can leave them hanging to create a green waterfall effect, or detach and plant them - propagation is very easy!
✂️ Super easy propagation!
Method 1 - in water: Cut a plantlet with a little bit of stem, place in a glass of water until roots grow, then plant.
Method 2 - directly in soil: Place a small pot next to the mother, set the plantlet on the soil (still attached!), and wait for it to root. Then detach.
Result: Endless new plants to share with friends!
