Growing conditions
☀️ Lighting
Bright indirect light! Begonias love light but not direct sun - it burns the leaves! Place near a window with a sheer curtain, or a shaded balcony. In winter - you can move it closer to the window.
💧 Irrigation
Balance is key! Keep soil slightly moist, let the top inch dry out between waterings. Very sensitive to overwatering! Water directly into the soil - not on the leaves! Wet leaves = mold.
💨 Humidity
Likes high humidity (50-70%)! But do not spray on the leaves - causes mold! Use a tray of pebbles and water or a humidifier. A well-lit kitchen or bathroom - good places.
🌡️ Temperature
Likes moderate heat. 15-24°C is ideal. Sensitive to cold and drafts! Do not drop below 13°C. Also sensitive to extreme heat - above 30°C can cause stress. Keep away from air conditioners and cold windows.
Common problems and solutions
💛 Yellow leaves
Usually due to overwatering - the most common cause! It could also be underwatering or direct sun. Check the watering schedule and make sure the soil dries out between waterings.
🟤 Brown edges
A sign of low humidity , under-watering , or over-fertilization . Increase humidity (pebble tray, humidifier), check watering, reduce fertilization.
🍄 Powdery Mildew
A common problem in begonias! Caused by wet leaves or too high humidity without ventilation . Improve air circulation, do not spray on the leaves, remove infected leaves.
🥀 Leaf/bud shedding
It could be too dry air , drafts , or sudden temperature changes . Begonia is sensitive to changes - give it a stable environment.

Expert tips
🌸 Huge family!
Begonia is one of the largest families in the plant world - over 2,000 species! There are foliage begonias (like Rex) with gorgeous colorful leaves, and flowering begonias with flowers in a variety of colors. Rose begonia belongs to the group that blooms with beautiful pink flowers.
💧 The golden rule of watering
Begonia is a "Goldilocks" plant - wants everything "just right"! The soil should be moist but not wet. If you are not sure whether to water - it is better to wait! Mild dryness is less dangerous than overwatering. Water when the top inch is dry to the touch.
✂️ Pruning and maintenance
Pruning: Pinch off ends when the plant is young to encourage bushy growth. Remove faded flowers to encourage more blooms.
Cleaning: Remove dry or yellow leaves - prevents disease.
Changing the pot: Begonias like to be a little "crowded" - don't rush to change the pot!
📏 Size and types
Size: Depending on the type - from 20 cm (compact varieties) to 60 cm and more.

Popular types of begonias:
Wax begonia - most durable, many small flowers
Tuberous Begonia - large, spectacular flowers
Begonia Rex (Rex) - stunning colorful foliage
Angel Wing Begonia - wing-shaped leaves
🌸 Rose Begonia - spectacular pink flowers and beautiful foliage! 🌸
