🌿 About the Caladium
The Caladium (Caladium bicolor) is one of the most colorful plants you can bring into your home. Its large, heart-shaped leaves, painted in stunning combinations of pink, red, white, and green with prominent veins, are a natural painting like no other.
The plant in the image showcases green leaves with vibrant fuchsia-pink veins and a shimmering texture – a combination that draws the eye from every angle.
The Caladium is a seasonal plant that grows from a tuber – it bursts into full color in the summer and rests in the winter. In Israel, with proper conditions of humidity and gentle warmth, it fully expresses its beauty.

💧 Tips for proper care
☀️
Light
Bright indirect light. Direct sun will burn the leaves. North/East facing windowsill is ideal.
💧
Watering
Twice a week, about 3 cups. The soil should remain moist but not too wet.
🌫️
Humidity
Loves high humidity. Mist leaves daily, or place on a tray with pebbles and water.
🌡️
Temperature
18°C–32°C. Dislikes drafts and proximity to air conditioners. Keep away from open windows in winter.
📅 Seasonal Cycle – Important to know!
🌸
Spring–Summer (March–September): Full growth season – large, colorful leaves, active watering and fertilizing.
🍂
Autumn (October–November): The leaves start to shed – this is completely normal. Reduce watering.
❄️
Winter (December–February): The tuber rests. Minimal to no watering. It will wake up on its own in the spring!
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
❓ Why are my Caladium leaves falling off in the winter?
This is a normal part of its life cycle. The plant grows from a tuber and rests in the winter. Don't throw it away – leave the tuber in dry soil and it will come back to life in the spring.
❓ Is Caladium suitable for outdoors?
In Israel, you can put it outside in the summer in full shade or partial shade. No direct sunlight! In winter – indoors only.
❓ The leaf tips are turning yellow – what should I do?
This is a sign of air that is too dry. Increase misting, keep away from AC and air vents, and you can place it near a humidifier.
❓ How often should I water a Caladium?
In the growing season (spring–summer) twice a week, about 100ml. In autumn, once every two weeks. In winter – almost not at all.
