Forgiving — suitable for beginners

🌸 Hoya Pubicalyx

The Hoya with the most unique leaves in the family: elongated dark green leaves spotted with silver splashes, on long trailing stems that spill from the bowl. The plant comes in a 20cm hanging bowl with a hanger — just hang and enjoy.

As it matures, it surprises with spherical clusters of dozens of star-shaped wax flowers in shades of pink to dark burgundy, with a sweet scent that intensifies in the evening hours. One of the fastest-growing Hoyas — and like all Hoyas, it just gets better with age.

🏡 The winning spots in your home

🪝
Hanging - The bowl comes with a built-in hanger; simply hang near a window
🪟
Near an east or west window - Bright light, gentle morning sun is welcome
🛋️
Living room or home office - On a high shelf, where the stems can trail beautifully
🚿
Bathroom with a window - Loves humidity and thrives there
🌤️
Shaded balcony - A sheltered spot away from direct midday sun

Exposure: Bright indirect light | Bonus: More light = more silver splashes and more blooms

✨
Leaves splattered with silver

Each leaf is uniquely speckled - it looks like silver paint was splattered on them. Among the most beautiful foliage in the houseplant world!

🌸
Fragrant star blooms

Spherical clusters of glossy pink-burgundy wax flowers with a sweet scent that intensifies in the evening.

🚀
Fast-growing

One of the fastest-growing Hoyas - the stems lengthen quickly to fill the bowl with lush growth.

💪
Hard to kill

The fleshy leaves store water - forgot to water? It’s forgiving. Perfect for beginners too.

💧
Watering

Let the soil dry out between waterings. In summer: about once a week | In winter: reduce significantly. It's better to underwater than overwater!

☀️
Lighting

Bright indirect light. Gentle morning sun strengthens the speckles and encourages blooming - direct midday sun may burn the leaves.

🪴
Soil and Fertilizing

Airy, well-draining mix (perlite or bark additions are excellent). Diluted fertilizer once a month in spring-summer.

🌡️
Temperature and Humidity

18-27°C (64-80°F) is their sweet spot. Keep away from temperatures below 10°C (50°F) and direct AC drafts. Enjoys humidity but manages without it.

🌸 Blooming Secret: Flowers return to the same spurs repeatedly - do not prune them after blooming! And when buds appear, do not move the plant.

💧 Watering Low - let dry between waterings

❓ How often should I water?

Let the soil dry out between waterings. In summer, this is about once a week, and in winter, significantly less; less is definitely more.

❓ How much light does it need?

Bright, indirect light, such as hanging near an east or west window. Gentle morning sun strengthens the silver specks and encourages blooms, but direct midday sun may scorch the leaves.

❓ When will it bloom?

Blooming occurs as the plant matures, and more light encourages more flowers. Once buds appear, do not move the plant.

❓ What to do after the flowers fade?

Do not prune the spurs where the flowers were. Future blooms will emerge from these same spurs.

❓ How long will the stems grow?

At maturity, stems can reach 2-3 meters. You can let them trail from the bowl or train them up a trellis.

❓ When should I repot?

Hoyas like being slightly root-bound, so frequent repotting isn't necessary. Once roots fill the bowl, repot in the spring into a slightly larger container with an airy, well-draining mix.

❓ Leaves are wrinkled or yellowing - why?

Wrinkled and limp leaves are usually a sign of thirst; water well. Yellow, soft leaves when the soil stays wet are a sign of overwatering; let the soil dry out before the next watering.

🌸 In a nutshell

A tropical Hoya with silver-speckled leaves, in a hanging basket ready to display. Easy to grow, fast-growing – and with a little patience, it rewards you with clusters of fragrant wax flowers. Hang it near a bright window, water sparingly, and enjoy it for years.

💡 Propagation tip: A small cutting with 2 leaves roots easily in a glass of water – a great gift plant for friends!

With over 330 Google reviews and a 4.8⭐ rating – you’re in good hands. ♥️
