☀️ Lighting
Bright, indirect light is ideal. It will also tolerate moderate light, but growth will be slower. Avoid strong direct sunlight, which can burn the leaves. An east or north window is particularly suitable.
💧 Irrigation
Water when 50-75% of the soil is dry. Water thoroughly until water comes out of the drainage holes. It is important to drain excess water from the bottom to prevent root rot. In winter - reduce the frequency of watering.
💨 Humidity
Prefers 40-60% humidity. Tolerates normal indoor humidity, but will benefit from occasional misting or a tray of pebbles with water. Especially suitable for the kitchen or bathroom.
🌡️ Temperature
Ideal temperature: 16-27°C. Keep away from air conditioners and direct heating. Does not tolerate temperatures below 10°C. In Israel, suitable for growing indoors all year round.
Common problems and solutions
🍂 Yellow and falling leaves
Usually a sign of overwatering. Check that the soil dries out between waterings and that the drainage holes are open. It could also be a lack of light.
📏 Long and thin growth
The plant is trying to "reach" for the light. Move to a brighter location. Light pruning will encourage denser growth.
💦 Root rot
Caused by excess water or poor drainage. Reduce watering, ensure proper drainage, and in severe cases, replace soil and prune damaged roots.
🕷️ Red mite
The most common pest on Schifflera. Weekly spraying with soapy water or neem oil will help. Maintaining high humidity prevents their appearance.

Schefflera arboricola, also known as the "umbrella plant" or "dwarf umbrella tree," is a popular houseplant in the Araliaceae family. It is native to Taiwan and Hainan, China.
The plant is characterized by shiny leaves arranged in an umbrella shape - 7-9 elliptical leaflets emerging from a single point. In nature it can reach a height of 9 meters, but at home it remains a comfortable size of 1-2 meters.
Schifflera is known for its ability to purify air and remove toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, and toluene. The plant is very tolerant of indoor conditions and is therefore particularly suitable for beginners and offices. Variegated varieties are available in green-white or green-yellow.
💡 Pro tip
Rotate the pot a quarter turn every week or two so that the plant grows evenly and doesn't "lean" toward the light source. Wipe the leaves from dust occasionally with a damp cloth - this both improves the appearance and helps the plant photosynthesize more efficiently!
