Detailed information
🪙 Pilea peperomioides – the "Chinese Money Plant"!
Meet the Pilea peperomioides – the charming houseplant that has taken the world by storm! Round, shiny leaves shaped like coins sitting on thin, upright stems – this unique look earned it names like "Pancake Plant", "Chinese Money Plant", and "UFO Plant". Originally from southwest China, it is believed—according to Chinese tradition—to bring luck, prosperity, and wealth! An easy-to-grow plant that produces plenty of "pups," and is exciting with every new leaf. 🌿
💧 Watering – how much and how often?
📏 Amount: About 100-150 ml per watering. Pilea loves moisture but doesn't like "wet feet"—water until water comes out of the drainage holes, then stop.

📅 Frequency:
• Summer: Every 5-7 days – check the soil before each watering.
• Winter: Every 10-14 days – the plant grows slower and uses less.

🔍 Simple test: Stick a finger 2-3 cm into the soil. Dry? Water. Still damp? Wait another day or two.

💡 Tip: Pilea "talks" – when the leaves go limp and droop downward = it is thirsty! Water it, and within hours you will see them perk back up. When leaves are yellow = too much water!
🌤️ Growing conditions
☀️ Lighting: Bright indirect light! Next to a window with a curtain or a north/east-facing window is perfect. Direct sun scorches the soft leaves. In too little light, the stems stretch and become "thin."
🌡️ Temperature: 15-30°C. Gets along great with normal house temperatures. Doesn't like direct drafts from the AC.
🌱 Soil: Light, well-draining potting mix. Adding perlite is recommended. Important: pot with drainage holes!
💦 Humidity: Likes moderate humidity. Occasional leaf misting is beneficial, especially in winter with heating.
🪙 What's special about Pilea?
⭕ Leaves round like coins! – The unique leaf shape – round and shiny – doesn't exist in any other plant. That's why it earned the nickname "Pancake Plant" and "UFO Plant."
🪙 The Chinese lucky plant – According to belief, leaves round like coins = wealth and abundance. An excellent gift for opening a business!
🍼 Gladly shares "kids"! – It produces side shoots (pups) right from the soil. Every few months you have a new plant to pot or give as a gift.
🔄 Leaves that move! – The Pilea turns its leaves toward the light. Rotate the pot a little every week for even growth.
📏 Compact – Reaches a height of about 30-40 cm. Perfect for desks and shelves.
📸 Instagram star! – One of the most photographed and shared plants in the world. Its minimalist design fits any style.
📍 Suitable locations
📚 Shelf next to a window – The classic spot! Indirect light + height that lets it show off.
🪑 Coffee table – Perfect tabletop plant. Compact, tidy, doesn't hide anything.
💼 Desk / Office – Requires almost no care and adds relaxing greenery.
🛏️ Bedroom – Next to a window. Adds naturalness and a calm atmosphere.
🚿 Bright bathroom – If there is a window! Natural humidity is good for it.
✅ Advantages
⭕ Completely unique look – Leaves round like coins. There's nothing else like it!
🪙 Symbol of luck and wealth – A gift with meaning for any occasion.
🍼 Splits! – Produces "kids" that can be planted and given away. One plant becomes many.
💪 Easy to grow – Forgiving, communicates when thirsty, and recovers quickly.
📏 Compact – Doesn't "run wild." Stays tidy and convenient.
📸 Photogenic – One of the most photographed plants on Instagram.
Important to know
💧 Don't overwater! – Yellow leaves = too much water. Let the soil dry out slightly between waterings. Drainage is a must!
🔄 Rotate weekly! – Pilea turns its leaves toward the light. Regular rotation = round, uniform plant.
☀️ No direct sun! – Strong sun causes yellow-brown burns on the soft leaves.

🪙 Care tips
🔄 Rotate! – A quarter turn every week. The Pilea is always trying to move toward the light – regular rotation keeps it round and uniform.
🌿 Fertilizing – Diluted liquid fertilizer once a month in spring-summer. Stop in winter. Don't overdo it!
🍼 Separating "kids" – When the seedling reaches 5-7 cm, insert a sharp tool into the soil, cut the connecting root, and plant in a separate pot. Perfect gift!
🧹 Leaf cleaning – Wipe the round leaves with a damp cloth. Clean and shiny leaves = more light = a happy plant.
🪴 Repotting – When roots come out of the drainage holes. Every 1-2 years, size up by 2 cm. In the spring. 🪙
❓ FAQ
❓ Why are the leaves limp and drooping? – It's thirsty! Water it and within hours you will see the leaves perk back up. This is one of the most satisfying things about growing Pilea 😄
❓ Why are the leaves yellow? – Almost always: too much water! Let the soil dry out more between waterings. If many leaves are yellow – check that the drainage is working.
❓ What is the white dot in the center of the leaf? – The white-yellow dot in the center of each leaf (where the stem connects) is a trademark of the Pilea. It's normal and beautiful!
❓ What to do with the "kids"? – When a small seedling appears from the soil and reaches 5-7 cm, separate it by cutting and plant in a small pot with damp soil. Within weeks you have a new Pilea!
❓ The stem is becoming crooked – why? – The Pilea "chases" the light. Rotate the pot a quarter turn each week and you will get a round, tidy plant.
