Lighting

Full sun! - At least 6 hours of direct sun daily for optimal blooming. Variegated leaves need plenty of light to maintain their beautiful colors.

Watering

Keep consistently moist - Water when the top layer dries out. Summer: almost daily, Winter: once or twice a week. Do not let the soil dry out completely!

Temperature

Ideal: 18-30°C. A tropical plant that loves heat! Bring indoors when temperatures drop below 10°C. Sensitive to cold and frost.

Fertilizing

Use a flowering plant fertilizer (rich in potassium) every 2 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce or stop in winter. Regular fertilizing = more flowers!

Pruning

Prune in the spring to encourage dense growth and blooming. Can be shaped as desired. Remove dead branches and faded flowers.

📜 About the Plant

The Variegated Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis variegata) is a special variety of the Chinese Hibiscus with stunningly colored leaves. It originates from tropical Asia and is the national flower of Malaysia. The flowers open for only one day - but there are so many of them!

In winter, you can bring the Hibiscus indoors and place it by the sunniest window. It will slow down its growth but will easily survive. In spring, gradually move it back outside (not directly into full sun), prune and fertilize - and within weeks it will start blooming again!
