Detailed information on plant care
โญ Growing conditions
lighting
Full sun! - At least 6 hours of direct sun per day for best flowering. The variegated leaves need plenty of light to maintain their beautiful colors.
Irrigation
Maintain constant moisture - water when the top layer dries out. Summer: almost every day, winter: once or twice a week. Do not let the soil dry out completely!
temperature
Ideal: 18-30ยฐC. A tropical plant that loves heat! Bring indoors when the temperature drops below 10ยฐC. Sensitive to cold and frost.
elk
Fertilizer for flowering plants (rich in potassium) every 2 weeks in spring-summer. Reduce or stop in winter. Regular fertilization = more flowers!
Pruning
Prune in spring to encourage dense growth and flowering. Can be shaped to desired shape. Remove dead branches and wilted flowers.
๐Ÿ”ง Common problems and solutions
๐ŸŒธ Not blooming
How to identify: Beautiful leaves but no flowers
Solution: Not enough sun! Move to a location with more direct sun and fertilize with a bloom fertilizer.
๐Ÿ‚ Yellow leaves
How to recognize: Leaves turning yellow and falling off
Solution: Usually excess or lack of water. Check soil moisture and adjust watering.
๐Ÿฅ€ Buds falling
How to identify: Buds fall before they open
Solution: Sudden change in environment, lack of water or nutrition. Maintain stability and fertilize.
๐Ÿ› Aphids
How to identify: Small insects on the leaves, sticky leaves
Solution: Spray with pressurized water or treat with diluted dish soap. Check regularly.

๐Ÿ’• Why will you love the variegated hibiscus?
๐Ÿพ Pet safe - non-toxic to dogs and cats (ASPCA)
๐ŸŽจ Variegated leaves - green with shades of white, cream or pink
๐ŸŒด Tropical atmosphere - brings a vacation feeling to the home
โณ Perennial - lives for many years with proper care
๐Ÿ“œ A little about the plant
The variegated hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis variegata) is a special version of the Chinese hibiscus with brilliantly colored leaves. It originates from tropical Asia and is the national flower of Malaysia. The flowers only open for one day - but there are so many of them!
๐Ÿ’ก Pro tip
In winter, you can bring the hibiscus indoors and place it near the sunniest window. It will slow down its growth but will survive easily. In spring, gradually move it outside (not directly into full sun), prune and fertilize - and within weeks it will start blooming again!
