🌸 Gladiolus Mix - Upright, colorful flower spikes

Five Gladiolus corms in a color mix, in an Asa package. Each corm produces an upright flower spike, and the flowers open gradually from the bottom up - so each stem blooms for a long time. In the packaging photo: yellow, pink-purple, and orange - the composition in the bag is determined by the manufacturer.

Plant in October-December at a depth of about 10 cm, in a sunny and well-drained spot, and flowering usually occurs in March-April. No cooling or soaking required - just sun, good drainage, and sometimes a support stake.

🌸 Why Gladiolus?

📐
Adds height

Upright flower spikes of about 60 cm provide the bed with a tall layer behind shorter flowers.

🎨
Strong colors

A mix of shades that stand out even from a distance.

✂️
Flower for the vase

The Gladiolus is a well-known cut flower. Cut when the bottom flowers begin to open, and the rest will open in the vase.

🌱
Simple planting

No cooling and no soaking: plant at a depth of about 10 cm, water, and wait for growth.

🏞️
Also native to Israel

In the spring, wild Gladiolus species bloom in the fields of Israel. The Gladiolus in this pack are colorful garden varieties.

📍 Where to plant?

Important: Gladiolus require full sun. In a spot exposed to wind, it is advisable to support the stems.

🏡 Flowerbed

🪴 Deep pot

With a drainage hole

🌿 Wide planter

Spacing of about 10 cm

✂️ Cutting corner

For vase flowers

🧱 Along a fence

Sheltered from the wind

⚠️ Avoid: Shade, heavy and wet soil, and places exposed to strong winds without support.

🌱 Planting and care

🗓️
When to plant

October-December.
Until planting, keep the corms in a dry, shaded, and well-ventilated place.

📏
Depth and spacing

Depth of about 10 cm, pointed side facing up.
Spacing of about 10 cm between each corm.

🌍
Soil and drainage

Soil or growing medium that is airy and well-drained. In a pot - an open drainage hole.

💧
Watering

Water after planting and keep the soil slightly moist during the growth period, without standing water.

🪵
Support

For tall stems or in windy places - a thin stick next to the plant helps it stand straight.

🍂
After blooming

Cut the withered flower spike and leave the leaves.
When the leaves yellow - remove the corms, dry them, and keep them in a dry, ventilated place until autumn.

📝 What is important to know

🧅 New corm each year

At the end of the season, a new corm forms above the old one. The old one dries out - remove it and keep the new one.

🔁 Blooming next year

A corm that has strengthened (green leaves until the end of the season) can bloom again. There is no guarantee of blooming every year.

🎨 Mix colors

The colors are determined by the manufacturer and may vary between bags. It is not possible to choose a color for each corm.

📅 Estimated dates

The dates and height are estimates and depend on the region, weather, and growing conditions.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

❓ When should Gladioli be planted?

In October-December. No cooling or soaking is required.

❓ How deep and what spacing?

At a depth of about 10 cm, with the pointed side facing up, and at a spacing of about 10 cm.

❓ Can Gladioli be grown in a pot?

Yes, in a deep pot that allows for planting at a depth of 10 cm and leaves room for roots, with a drainage hole and in a sunny location.

❓ Do the stalks need support?

In a windy spot, or when the stalks are heavy with flowers - yes. A thin stake inserted on the day of planting helps them stand.

❓ How long until flowering?

Flowering usually occurs in March-April, depending on the planting date and weather.

❓ What to do after flowering?

Cut the flower stalk and leave the leaves. When they turn yellow, dig up the corms, dry them, and store until autumn.

❓ Will they bloom again next year?

They may, if the leaves remained green until the end of the season and the new corm was kept dry. There is no certainty of blooming every year.

🌸 In short - who is this suitable for?

Gladioli are suitable for those who want height and color in the garden and planter, as well as tall flowers for a vase. Plant relatively deep, provide full sun, and support the stalks when necessary.

💡 Tip: Insert the support stake on the day of planting, next to the corm - this way you won't damage it as the plant grows.
