What is the Thai Constellation? A variegated cultivar of Monstera Deliciosa originating from Thailand, propagated via tissue culture. Every leaf is adorned with creamy white spots on dark green — like stars in the sky. Every leaf emerges with a unique pattern — no two leaves are the same, which makes every plant one of a kind.
📖 About the plant — what makes it so special? ▼

The Monstera Thai Constellation is one of the most sought-after plants in the houseplant world. The name "Constellation" comes from the appearance of its leaves: creamy white spots scattered across deep green, like stars in the sky.

The pattern varies from leaf to leaf: no two leaves are identical, and every new leaf that unfurls is a surprise. In the white cultivar (Monstera Albo), the spots are brighter, larger, and sharper; in the Thai, they are creamy and speckled across the entire leaf.

As a climbing plant, it produces larger leaves with more fenestrations (holes) as it matures and receives support — a moss pole will help it reach its full potential.

💧 Watering — the most important aspect for this plant ▼

The most common reason for a Thai Constellation to die is overwatering. This plant is more sensitive to root rot than most Monsteras.

The simple rule: Water only when the top half of the soil is dry to the touch. This usually amounts to once a week in the summer, and less in the winter.

Recommended amount: About 200ml for a medium pot (12–14 cm). Do not drown it — provide moderate moisture.

Always use a pot with drainage holes. Never let the plant sit in standing water, not even for a minute.

☀️ Light — especially important for variegated varieties ▼

The light areas on the leaf barely produce energy — only the green part does the work. Therefore, the plant needs more light than a regular green Monstera to compensate.

Ideal location: Near an east-facing window — gentle morning light. You can also use a west or south-facing window with a sheer curtain to filter the strong sun.

Do not place in a dark corner — the plant will grow very slowly and new leaves will be smaller. If there isn't enough natural light, a grow light works perfectly.

🌱 Soil, Fertilizing, and Repotting ▼

Soil: A well-draining, airy mix — houseplant soil with added perlite and bark. It is important that the soil does not retain water for too long.

Fertilizing: Use a balanced liquid fertilizer at half the recommended dose on the package — once a month during the growing season (spring–summer). Do not fertilize in fall and winter. Do not fertilize a plant immediately after bringing it home — let the roots acclimate for a month first.

Repotting: Every 1–2 years, only increase the pot size by 2 cm. A pot that is too large = root rot. It is better to err on the side of a smaller pot.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Thai Constellation and a Monstera Albo? +
Both are variegated Monstera Deliciosa varieties, and the difference visible to the eye is the pattern: the Thai Constellation has soft, creamy, speckled spots scattered across the leaf — like stars; the Albo has brighter white, larger, and sharper spots, often in entire sections. The Thai is propagated via tissue culture. In both varieties, every leaf is different — no two leaves are the same.
Is it suitable for beginners? +
Not exactly. The Thai Constellation is more suitable for those who have successfully grown houseplants before and understand the principle of measured watering. It is not a difficult plant — but it is less forgiving of overwatering than a regular green Monstera. Anyone with basic experience in caring for houseplants will manage just fine.
Why is it growing slowly? +
The slow growth is an inherent trait — the light-colored areas on the leaf barely produce energy, so the plant produces less energy than a green Monstera and grows more slowly. This is completely normal and not a sign of disease. Good light will help accelerate growth.
Does the plant come in a pot? +

The plant arrives in a plastic nursery pot — and our recommendation is to leave it there. A nursery pot is designed for exactly this: maintaining the plant, drainage, and optimal soil aeration — better than most decorative pots (except terracotta).

So how do you pair it with a nice planter? Simply — place the nursery pot as is inside the decorative planter. No need to plant, no need to touch the roots. And if tomorrow you want a planter with a different design — take it out, put it in a new one, done.

We have a large selection of decorative planters and pots in the store — you are welcome to add to your order.
