Full sun - essential! Minimum 6-8 hours a day. Shade - poor flowering and plant lengthens. Verbena loves heat and sun! Perfect for a south or west orientation.
💧 Irrigation
Average - let dry slightly between waterings. Water when the top 2-3 cm is dry. Drought tolerant after establishment! Sensitive to overwatering - good drainage essential.
🌱 Earth
Well drained! Prefers sandy or loamy soil. Slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0). Does not tolerate heavy or wet soil - will cause root rot.
🌡️ Temperature
Loves heat! Does not tolerate frost. In Israel - grows as an annual in most areas, or a short-lived perennial in warm areas. Plant after all danger of frost has passed.
Common problems and solutions
🌸 Little flowering / plant lengthens
Lack of sun! Verbena needs a minimum of 6-8 hours of sun per day. Move to a sunnier location. The plant will recover and bloom again.
🍂 Root rot / wilting
Overwatering or poor drainage! Verbena does not tolerate wet soil. Improve drainage, reduce watering, let the soil dry out.
🦠 Powdery Mildew
White powder on the leaves. Caused by shade, high humidity or distress. Improve ventilation, do not wet the leaves , move to the sun.
🕷️ Mites
Thin webs on leaves, spotted leaves. Usually on plants that suffer from extreme dryness. Spray heavily with water or treat with potassium soap.
