Philodendron 'Imperial Red' – A royal touch for your home
Philodendron 'Imperial Red' adds warm shades of red, copper, and burgundy to your green corner. The broad leaves unfurl in warm colors and darken to deep green as they mature. Its upright growth creates a lush presence on a table, dresser, or stand.
The plant comes in a 12 cm nursery pot. Its botanical name is Philodendron 'Imperial Red' – an upright philodendron with glossy leaves and colors that change throughout the leaf's life.
Where will the Imperial feel at home?
Bright indirect light is the best choice: near a window with filtered light, without harsh direct sun on the leaves. Place on a stable surface and leave room for the leaves to unfurl.
Suitable for a living room or a bright office. Maintain a warm home environment, preferably above 15°C, and keep away from cold drafts and direct air conditioning streams. This is an upright variety, not a trailing plant.
Simple watering – check, then water
Check the soil with your finger. When the top layer dries out, water well and let the excess drain from the drainage holes. Empty any water remaining in the saucer or decorative pot.
The frequency changes according to light, heat, and season. During periods of slow growth, the plant typically requires less water, so it is better to check the soil rather than watering on a fixed schedule.
Care routine in brief
Soil and pot: An airy, well-draining mix in a pot with drainage holes.
Fertilization: During active growth, you can use indoor plant fertilizer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Repotting: When the roots fill the container, move to a slightly larger pot. This plant is relatively easy to grow when given appropriate light and watered according to the soil condition.
What's special about the leaves?
The difference between young and mature leaves is part of the charm: shades of red, copper, and burgundy meet deep, glossy green. Not all leaves remain red – darkening as they mature is natural for the variety.
This is a living plant: the leaf color, quantity, and plant size may vary from plant to plant, depending on growing conditions. The image displays the Imperial Red at the nursery.
