🌿 Thyme - the classic Mediterranean spice!
Thyme (Cornflower) is a fragrant and powerful spice that adds deep flavor and character to any dish! It originates from the Mediterranean region, and is one of the most important spices in Italian, French, and Israeli cuisine.
A perennial, evergreen plant that is very easy to grow - loves sun, doesn't need much water, and forgives neglect. Perfect for the kitchen windowsill, balcony, or herb garden! 🍝
Fresh thyme from the garden is heaven and earth compared to dried thyme from the supermarket! A true Mediterranean aroma.
Did you forget to water? Okay. Did you leave for a week? It'll be fine. Thyme forgives everything!
In spring-summer, small pink-purple flowers appear that attract bees and butterflies! 🦋
Thyme tea helps the throat, digestion, and has antibacterial properties. Spice and medicine!
Keeps the leaves all year round - always have fresh spice on hand!
Chicken, lamb, beef - perfect!
Adds depth to any soup
With tomatoes and garlic!
Potato, sweet potato, carrot
With garlic and thyme!
Relaxing and healthy!
💡 Tip: Fresh thyme is added at the end of cooking to preserve the flavor, but whole sprigs can be added from the beginning and removed before serving!
Thyme loves sun! The more light there is, the stronger the flavor and aroma.
South window = ideal!
Perfect! Loves heat
With rosemary and sage
Sunny place
⚠️ Avoid: dark or shady place (will grow thin and weak), wet soil (will rot!).
Water only when the soil is completely dry!
Thyme comes from dry places - excess water = root rot.
Once a week in the summer, once a week or two in the winter.
6-8+ hours of sun per day!
Strong light = strong flavor. Shade = weak, skinny plant.
A south-facing window or sunny balcony = perfect.
Well-drained soil! Thyme hates wet feet.
Add perlite or sand to regular soil to improve drainage.
Prune back a third of the plant in spring to encourage dense growth.
Picking branches for use = pruning! The plant will branch and fill out.
