☀️ Lighting
Full sun is a must! At least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. The more sun it gets, the better it blooms and the faster it grows. It originates from sunny Australia. Not suitable for shade.
💧 Watering
Highly drought-tolerant! The thick trunk stores water like a camel. In summer, water once a week; in spring/autumn, every two weeks. In winter, it barely needs any. Do not overwater! Excellent drainage is mandatory.
🪨 Soil
Excellent drainage is essential! Suitable for all soil types—sandy, clay, rocky—as long as it drains well. In the wild, it grows in poor, dry soil. If planting in a pot, add perlite or gravel.
🌡️ Temperature
Loves heat! Very well-suited to the Israeli climate. Resistant to high temperatures and desert heat. Cold sensitive: Not below 5°C. In colder regions (Jerusalem, North), protect it in winter or grow in a pot and bring indoors.

❄️ Cold Damage
The tree is frost-sensitive. If leaves were damaged by the cold, prune the damaged parts in the spring. A mature tree with established roots will recover.

About the Plant
Bottle Tree (Brachychiton populneus), also known as the Kurrajong. An impressive evergreen tree from the Malvaceae family, native to eastern Australia.
Why "Bottle Tree"? The thickened trunk at the base serves as a water reservoir—an amazing adaptation for survival in a dry climate! As the tree matures, the trunk becomes more inflated and impressive.
Bloom: Magical, small bell-shaped flowers in shades of cream, pink, and white, usually in spring. The flowers attract bees and butterflies. Following them, woody seed pods appear.
Size: Can reach 10-18 meters in height! Grows relatively fast. A young tree grows upright; a mature tree develops an impressive dome shape. Also suitable for a large pot when young.
💡 Professional Tips
Planting: The best time is spring or autumn. Dig a hole twice the size of the root ball. Support: A young tree needs a stake for support in the first years. Pruning: Only for shaping or to remove dead branches—the tree does not like heavy pruning. Fertilizing: Once a year in the spring with a slow-release fertilizer. 💕
