☀️ Lighting

Bright indirect light - ideal! Partial shade to morning/evening sun. Modern varieties also tolerate full sun (with good watering). Light affects colors! More light = brighter colors. Full shade = greener leaves.

💧 Irrigation

Keep soil moist! Coleus is thirsty - water when the top inch dries out. The plant "falls" when thirsty - recovers quickly after watering. Avoid too wet soil - causes rot.

💨 Humidity

Loves humidity! A tropical plant that prefers high humidity. Indoors - place on a pebble tray or spray occasionally. Dry air causes brown edges.

🌡️ Temperature

Loves heat! Ideal temperature 18-27°C. Very sensitive to cold! Do not drop below 10°C. Sensitive to frost - bring inside or protect in winter. Perennial in warm areas, annual in cold areas.

Common problems and solutions

🥀 Falling/loose leaves

Classic sign of thirst! Coleus is very thirsty and "collapses" when dry. Water immediately - it will recover within hours. Could also be cold or drafts.

💛 Yellow leaves

It could be overwatering (the most common cause!), not enough light , or simply old leaves that are shedding. Check drainage and lighting.

🌿 Thin/long growth

Sign of insufficient lighting . Coleus "stretches" to seek light. Move to a brighter location. Pinch edges to encourage dense, lush growth.

🌸 The plant is blooming

Pick the flowers! Blooming causes the coleus to stop producing beautiful leaves and focus on seeds. Pinch off flowers as soon as they appear to maintain spectacular foliage.

Coleus is considered the most colorful foliage plant! The leaves come in crazy color combinations - pink, purple, red, orange, yellow, green and even almost black. There are varieties with patterns, stripes, borders of a different color... the possibilities are endless!

✂️ Pinch - the secret to a full plant!

Pinch the ends regularly! This is the secret to lush and dense coleus. Pinch the tip of the stem above a leaf - will make the plant branch and produce more leaves.

Important: Pick flowers as soon as they appear! Flowering causes the plant to "get tired" and stop producing beautiful foliage.

🌱 Extremely easy to propagate!

Coleus is one of the easiest plants to propagate!
How to: Cut a cutting 10-15 cm below a leaf node. Remove lower leaves. Place in water or directly in moist soil.
Result: roots within a week or two! You can create dozens of new plants from one plant.
