Full sun - a must! At least 6 hours a day for optimal flowering. In shade - will bloom less. In very hot areas - afternoon shade can help.
💧 Irrigation
Moderate - about 2.5 cm per week. Let the soil dry out a bit between waterings. Very sensitive to overwatering! Good drainage is essential. Drought tolerant after establishment.
🌱 Earth
Well-drained! This is most important. Prefers neutral to slightly alkaline soil (pH 5.8-6.2). Heavy soil? Add sand or perlite. Perfect for a rock garden!

Durable and strong! Tolerates heat and cold. Perennial in many areas (hardiness zones 3-9). In Israel - suitable for all areas! Evergreen foliage in many varieties.

💛 Yellow leaves / rot
Almost always due to overwatering or poor drainage . Carnations are very sensitive to soil that is too wet! Ensure good drainage and reduce watering.

Usually due to lack of sun - carnations need at least 6 hours a day. Also, don't forget to pick off wilted flowers (deadheading) - encourages re-blooming!
🐛 Pests
Aphids - spray with potassium soap or wash with water. Snails and slugs - common in overly moist soil. Improve drainage and use baits if necessary.
🍂 Brown foliage in winter
Normal! In a harsh winter the foliage can look "tired". Prune close to the ground (2-3 cm) and cover with mulch. Recover in the spring!
