☀️ Lighting
Full sun - at least 6-8 hours a day! The key to blooming and fruit. A south or west-facing window. Outdoors - the sunniest spot in the garden. Not enough sun = no oranges!
💧 Watering
Keep the soil moist but not soggy! Check when the top 2-3 cm are dry. In summer - 1-2 times a week. In winter - reduce watering and let the soil dry out a bit. Excellent drainage is essential! Rainwater = best!
💨 Humidity
Enjoys moderate-high humidity. Kitchen or bathroom are excellent indoor spots. Mist the leaves occasionally or place on a pebble tray. Humidity encourages blooming!
🌡️ Temperature
15-30°C is ideal. Cooler nights (5-10°C lower than the day) encourage blooming! Frost-sensitive - not below 0°C! Most regions in Israel are excellent. In cold areas - protect in winter or move indoors.
Common Problems and Solutions
💛 Yellow leaves
Usually overwatering or poor drainage. Can also be iron or magnesium deficiency - fertilize with citrus fertilizer. Check that the pot drains well.
🌸 No blooming / No fruit
Lacks light! Needs at least 6-8 hours of sun. Cooler nights also encourage blooming. Fertilize in spring and summer. Young tree? - Needs patience, at least 2-3 years!
🍂 Leaf/flower/fruit drop
Sudden temperature changes or drafts! Move gradually between indoors and outdoors. Irregular watering or low humidity also cause this. Avoid air conditioning and heating vents.
🐛 Pests
Aphids, mites (tiny spider webs), mealybugs - check regularly. Treat with potassium soap or neem oil. Good ventilation prevents infestations.

Orange Tree (Citrus sinensis) is an evergreen fruit tree from the citrus family, also known as the "sweet orange." It originated in Asia (India and China) and arrived in Europe in the 16th century. Today, it is one of the most popular fruit trees in the world!
Blooming and fruit: Small white flowers with a sweet, intoxicating scent - usually in the spring. The fruits develop slowly and ripen in 6-12 months. The orange is ripe when it is completely orange and soft to the touch.
Recommended varieties for home growing: Washington orange - the most common in Israel, sweet and juicy. Shamouti orange - seedless! Clementine (mandarin) - small and easy to peel, very suitable for pots.
Size: In the wild, it can reach 8-10 meters. Dwarf varieties for pots remain 1.5-3 meters. Perfect for Israel - our climate is ideal for citrus!
