☀️ Lighting
Full sun - at least 6-8 hours a day! South or west window. Outside - the sunniest place. You need heat to sweeten the fruit! More sun = more sweet juice.
💧 Irrigation
Water deeply and regularly, especially during flowering and ripening. Allow soil to dry out a bit between waterings. More drought tolerant than other oranges! Excellent drainage is essential. Do not leave in standing water.
🌱 Earth
Prefers well-drained sandy-loam soil. Acidic to neutral pH (6.0-7.0). Tolerates a wide range of soil types - a big plus! Enrich with compost.
🌡️ Temperature
15-37°C - Loves heat! More heat tolerant than other varieties - Excellent for hot, dry climates. Can tolerate temperatures down to -1°C for a short time. Sensitive to prolonged frost. Perfect for Israel!
Common problems and solutions
💛 Yellow leaves
Usually overwatering or poor drainage. Could also be a lack of iron or nitrogen - fertilize with citrus fertilizer. Old leaves falling off - completely natural!
🌸 Does not bloom / Fruits are not sweet
Lack of light or heat! Valencia needs lots of sun and heat to sweeten. Fertilize in spring and summer. Ensure at least 6-8 hours of direct sun.
🍂 Leaf/flower/fruit drop
Sudden temperature changes, drafts, or irregular watering. Move gradually between indoors and outdoors. Avoid air conditioners and direct heating.
🐛 Pests
Aphids, mites, mealybugs, citrus psyllids - check regularly. Aphids? Wash with a strong stream of water. Treat with potassium soap or neem oil.

Plant information

Valencia orange (Citrus sinensis 'Valencia') is the most popular orange in the world for juicing! Developed in California in the mid-19th century and named after the city of Valencia in Spain - the famous city of oranges.

Why Valencia? The fruit is especially sweet with a very high juice content! Relatively thin skin, almost seedless, and a bright orange color. Late harvest - ripens in spring-summer (unlike most oranges that ripen in winter).

Double crop: Can produce two crops a year! March to June - Sometimes you will find both flowers and ripe fruit on the tree at the same time. The fruit can stay on the tree for months and maintain its quality.

Size: In the wild, it can reach 4-8 meters. Can be kept more compact with pruning. Self-fertile - no need for another tree! Suitable for a large pot. Begins to bear fruit after about 3 years.

💡 Professional tips
Fertilizer: Citrus fertilizer (2-1-1 NPK) 3 times a year - spring, early summer, and late summer. Pruning: Late winter - remove dead branches, suckers, and shape. Picking: Fruit can stay on the tree - longer = sweeter! Pollination: Self-fertilized, but indoors - help with a soft brush. Potting: Choose a pot 2 times larger than the root ball. 🍊
