Growing conditions
lighting
Full sun! - 6-8 hours of direct sun per day. More sun = more sweet fruit!
Irrigation
Regular and deep - water deeply and let the soil dry slightly between waterings. Increase in summer and during fruit development.
ground
Well-drained soil! Do not let water stand. Acidic to neutral pH (5.5-7.0). Excellent in sandy-clayey soil.
temperature
Relatively hardy! - Tolerates cold better than other citrus fruits. Up to about (-5°C) for a short time. Suitable for most regions of Israel!
🔧 Common problems and solutions
🍋 Yellow leaves
How to recognize: Jaundice between the arteries
Solution: Iron or magnesium deficiency. Fertilize with citrus fertilizer or spray iron on the leaves (chlorosis)
🥀 Fruit drop
How to identify: Small falling fruits
Solution: Natural shedding is normal (the tree is thinning itself). If excessive - check watering and fertilization.
🐛 Fruit fly
How to identify: Soft fruits with dots
Solution: Remove infected fruit immediately. Use traps or spray with a suitable product before ripening.
🇮🇱 Israeli pride!
Clementine Michal is an original Israeli variety developed at the Volcanic Institute! An early variety that ripens first (September-October), seedless , easy to peel, and especially sweet. Named after Michal - the daughter of the researcher who developed it. One of the leading citrus varieties in Israel!
💚 Why grow a container tangerine?

🚫 Seedless - convenient to eat
🍬 Extremely sweet - excellent taste
💪 Cold-resistant - suitable for the entire country
🍊 More tangerine varieties
Michal - Early, Sept-Oct
Or - late, Jan-Feb, large
Nova - mid-season, juicy
Murcott - very late, sweet
📜 A little about the tree
🌍 Source: Developed in Israel! (Volcanic Institute)
📏 Height: 2-4 meters (compact)
🏷️ Scientific name: Citrus clementina 'Michal'
👨👩👧👦 Family: Rutaceae (Citrus)
🌸 Season: September-October (early!)
⚠️ Please note - pets
Like all citrus trees, the peel, leaves and seeds of clementine are not recommended for dogs and cats. They contain essential oils and psoralens that may cause vomiting, diarrhea and photosensitivity. The flesh itself is safe in small quantities. Recommended: Do not leave peels or fallen fruit within reach of animals.
💡 Pro tip
Fertilization: 3-4 times a year with citrus fertilizer (rich in nitrogen and iron). Do not fertilize in winter! Pruning: Light pruning at the end of winter - remove weak branches and maintain an airy shape. Harvesting: The fruit is ripe when it is completely orange and breaks off easily. Do not wait too long - premature container and may dry out on the tree! 🍊
