Detailed plant care information
⭐ Growing conditions
Lighting
Bright indirect light - avoid direct sun, which can burn leaves. Tolerates medium light, but will grow slower.
Watering
When the soil dries out - water when the top 2-3 cm are dry. In summer every week, in winter every 2-3 weeks. Good drainage is important!
Humidity
Loves medium-high humidity! Suitable for a bright bathroom. You can mist the leaves occasionally or place it on a tray of pebbles with water.
Soil
Rich, well-draining soil. Houseplant soil mix + perlite. A pot with a drainage hole is a must!
Temperature
Room temperature (18-27°C) is ideal. Keep away from air conditioners and drafts. Sensitive to cold - not below 10°C.
🔧 Common problems and solutions
🍂 Yellow and falling leaves
How to identify: Leaves turning yellow and dropping
Solution: Usually overwatering! Check that the soil dries out between waterings. Sudden relocation can also cause this.
🟤 Brown edges
How to identify: Leaf edges drying out
Solution: Low humidity or direct sun. Move away from a south-facing window, mist leaves.
🥀 Soft stem
How to identify: The braided stem softens
Solution: Root rot from overwatering! Stop watering, check roots, change soil if needed.
📏 Slow growth
How to identify: No new leaves
Solution: Probably needs more light! Move to a brighter spot. Fertilizer in spring-summer will also help.
🌀 The braided trunk!
The special braided trunk is created from 3-5 young stems braided together while young. It doesn't grow like this in nature! It's the handiwork of growers. The braid is "locked" and will stay that way forever. If the plant grows - the trunk will thicken but remain braided 🌳
🍀 Feng Shui and Luck
💰 "Money Tree" - symbolizes financial prosperity and good luck
✋ 5 leaves - represent the 5 elements: metal, wood, water, fire, earth
🏠 Where to place? - Southeast corner for wealth, or near the entrance
🎁 Perfect gift - for a housewarming, new business, New Year!
💚 Why you'll love the Money Tree?
- Rare among houseplants
🎨 Impressive design - the braided trunk looks like a sculpture
💪 Durable and forgiving - tolerates temporary neglect
🌱 Grows beautifully - shiny, hand-shaped leaves
📜 A bit about the plant
🌍 Origin: Central and South America (tropical swamps)
📏 Mature height: Up to 2m indoors, up to 18m in nature!
🏷️ Names: Pachira aquatica, Money Tree, Guiana Chestnut
🌸 Flowering: Large white-cream flowers (rare indoors)
📏 The height is of the mature plant – the size it will reach over time, not the size at which it is sent to you.
💡 Pro tip
Rotate a quarter turn every week - so the plant grows straight and even, rather than leaning toward the light. Important: Do not move the plant too much - it doesn't like change! If you've moved it to a new location and the leaves are dropping - it's normal, it will take a few weeks to adjust. Patience! 🌿
