Sowing guide - Step by step

🌱 Prepare seed tray
Fill a seed tray or small pots with high-quality potting soil. Moisten slightly before sowing.

Place 2-3 seeds in each cell at a depth of 0.5-1 cm. Cover with a thin layer of soil and press gently.

💧 Irrigation and moisture
Water gently (mist or fine watering can). Maintain constant moisture - not too wet! You can cover with clear plastic until germination.

🌡️ Heat for germination
Tomatoes need heat to germinate! 21-29°C is ideal. Keep in a warm place in the house or near a heat source.

🌿 Germination!
Within 5-14 days you will see sprouts! Remove the cover and move to a lit area. If multiple sprouts grew in one cell - keep only the strongest one.

☀️ Light!
Seedlings need lots of light! 14-16 hours a day. A south-facing window or grow lights. Lack of light = long, weak seedlings.

🏡 Planting in permanent location
When the seedlings are 6-8 weeks old and have 4-6 true leaves - they are ready! Harden them off for 7-10 days before planting outdoors.

🪵 Support and cage
Must support the plant! Large tomatoes can reach 1.5-2 meters. Cage, stakes, or netting - install early!

🧪 Fertilizing and watering
Fertilize tomatoes every 2-3 weeks. Deep and consistent watering - important! Irregular watering = cracked fruit.

🍅 Harvest!
When the tomatoes are a uniform color, firm but give slightly to pressure - they are ready! Pick gently with the stem. Usually 65-90 days from planting.
Tips for success
☀️ Full sun = essential!
Tomatoes need at least 6-8 hours of sun a day! The more sun - the more fruit and sweetness.
💧 Deep and consistent watering
Water at the base of the plant, not on the leaves! Irregular watering causes cracked fruit and "blossom end rot".
✂️ Pruning "suckers"
Remove side shoots ("suckers") that grow between the stem and the branch. This redirects energy to the fruit!
🍃 Remove lower leaves
Remove leaves below the first cluster of fruit. Improves ventilation and prevents diseases!
🧅 Successful companions
Basil - The perfect combination! It repels pests and enhances flavor. Onions, parsley, and peppers work well too.

You can grow them in a pot - at least 40 liters for large tomatoes. Excellent drainage is a must!
