TILLANDSIA · Air Plant
🌸 Blooming Tillandsia in a Glass Vase
Two air plants that grow without soil, on a bed of natural pebbles, inside a clear glass vase
🪴 No soil · 💧 Weekly watering · 🎁 A unique gift
📦 The kit arrives unassembled — and that's on purpose
The vase, plants, and pebbles are packed separately so the glass arrives intact and the plants aren't crushed in transit. Assembly takes less than a minute, with no tools or soil required:
1
Rinse the pebbles and spread them at the bottom of the vase
2
Place the two plants on top of the pebbles, with the bloom facing up
3
Straighten the leaves with your finger — and that's it, exactly like in the picture
💡 The plants are not planted or glued — they simply sit on the stones. You can take them out at any time, which also makes them easy to water.
🌱

🎁
A gift to remember
Most people have never seen a plant that grows in the air — and the vase can be reused indefinitely
What is an air plant? Tillandsia is a member of the bromeliad family that grows in nature on branches and rocks, without rooting in soil. Instead of roots that drink water, it has tiny scales on its leaves that absorb moisture and minerals directly from the air and rain. Its thin roots are only used for grip. This is why you can place it on stones, wood, or inside a glass container — and it will continue to grow.
💧 How to water an air plant ▼

Once a week: Remove the plants from the vase and place them in a bowl of water for 20–30 minutes. Alternatively, you can spray them thoroughly 2–3 times a week.

Dry before returning: Gently shake off excess water and let the plants dry for an hour or two, preferably upside down, before placing them back in the vase.

The most important rule: Do not leave water at the bottom of the vase or between the leaves. Trapped moisture is the main cause of rot in air plants.

Water: Tap water that has sat for a few hours is best. It is better to water in the morning so the plant has time to dry during the day.

Nutrition: Once a month during the growing season, you can spray with a low-salt leaf fertilizer (like one meant for orchids) — Tillandsia also absorbs nutrients through its leaves. Not mandatory, the plant will do fine without it. What is important: do not use leaf-shine sprays — they coat the leaves and block exactly what absorbs the water.

🌤️ Light, location, and air ▼

Light: Bright, indirect light. No direct sun — the glass concentrates the heat and can burn the leaves.

Where to place: Near a window with a curtain, on a desk, a shelf in the living room, an entryway console, or kitchen counter.

Air: Tillandsia loves circulating air, which is exactly why the vase is open at the top. Regular room temperature is fine for it year-round.

🌸 What happens after blooming ▼

Every Tillandsia blooms once in its lifetime, and the bloom lasts for weeks and sometimes months. This is the plant's peak — not its end.

Around and after blooming, the plant produces "pups" — new small plants that grow beside it and carry on. You can leave them in the vase and enjoy a growing cluster, or gently separate them once they reach about half the size of the parent plant.

📦 What's in the kit
🌸 2 Tillandsia plants
Living air plants, packed for transport
🪟 Clear glass vase
Approx. 14 cm diameter · 15.5 cm height
🪨 Natural pebbles
Enough to cover the bottom of the vase
Please note: These are live plants — the exact size, bloom shade, and degree of bloom opening vary slightly between kits, and the pebbles are natural, so shapes and colors are not identical. Photos were taken in the nursery.
FAQ
Why does the kit arrive unassembled? +
So everything arrives intact. A glass vase filled with stones that is shipped packed is a recipe for breakage, and the plants inside get crushed by the movement. Therefore, we pack the three parts separately — and your assembly at home takes less than a minute, with no tools or soil required.
Do I need to put water at the bottom of the vase? +
No. The vase is for display only, not a water vase. Plants do not drink water through their roots but through their leaves — and standing water at the bottom of the vase will cause rot. Water by taking them out of the vase, and only return them after the plant has dried.
How long does the bloom last? +
Weeks, sometimes months — depending on the plant and conditions. Tillandsia blooms once in its lifetime, and after blooming, it produces new small plants ("pups") that continue to grow beside it. The plant itself remains green and beautiful even after the spike dries.
Is it suitable as a gift? +
It is one of the most unique gifts you can give. A plant that grows without soil surprises almost anyone, it requires no gardening knowledge, and the vase remains long after the bloom is over. Suitable for birthdays, housewarmings, office gifts, teachers, or for anyone who doesn't have time to take care of plants.
