Yucca on a trunk — what does that mean? A Yucca is usually sold as a young seedling, but the "on a trunk" version is a mature plant that has developed a brown woody trunk at its base — just like in the picture. The trunk stores water and nutrients, making the plant even more resilient. It also gives the plant a real tree appearance — unique and impressive for any space.
📖 About the plant — why is the Yucca so popular? ▼

The Yucca elephantipes originates from Mexico and Central America, where it grows in harsh, dry, and sunny conditions. Its name — "elephantipes" — is derived from the thick trunk that looks like an elephant's foot in mature plants.

The Yucca is one of the most resilient and forgiving house plants — it survives neglect, low humidity, and varying light conditions. Indoors, it reaches a height of 1.5–2.5 meters over time, creating an architectural presence hard to find in other house plants.

💧 Watering — the most important rule ▼

The Yucca stores water in its woody trunk — just like a cactus. The biggest risk is overwatering: root rot is the number one cause of Yucca death indoors.

The rule: Water only when the soil is completely dry — usually every two weeks in summer and once a month in winter. About 150ml for a medium pot.

Rotate the pot a quarter turn every two weeks — this ensures every side receives equal light and the plant grows straight instead of leaning to one side.

☀️ Light and placement ▼

The Yucca loves light — the more, the happier it is. A southern or western window is the ideal location — direct morning or afternoon light is excellent. It also manages in bright indirect light, but in the shade, it will grow slowly and lose density.

If the plant has been in the shade and you move it to a brighter spot — do so gradually to avoid shock.

In the summer, you can take the Yucca out to the balcony or garden — it will thrive there. Bring it back inside when temperatures drop below 10°C.

🌱 Soil, fertilizing, and repotting ▼

Soil: Well-draining mix — house plant soil with coarse sand or perlite. You can use a ready-made mix for cacti and succulents. Most important: good drainage that won't retain moisture.

Fertilizing: Balanced liquid fertilizer, only once every month or two during the growing season (spring–summer). The Yucca doesn't require much — over-fertilizing will do more harm than good.

Repotting: Every 2–3 years. The Yucca likes some density in the pot — don't rush to repot. Note: as the plant gets taller, choose a heavy and stable pot so it doesn't tip over.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Yucca suitable for beginners? +
Absolutely — the Yucca is one of the most forgiving house plants. It survives neglect, low humidity, and varying light conditions. The only thing to remember: do not overwater. Those who remember this rule will succeed famously.
The leaf tips have turned brown — what happened? +
Two common factors: overwatering (yellow and soft leaves) or lack of water (brown and dry tips). Check the soil — if it's still damp, reduce watering. If it's bone dry and two weeks have passed — it's time to water. Dry air in winter can also cause brown tips.
The plant is growing to one side — how to fix it? +
This happens when the plant grows towards the light source. The solution is simple — rotate the pot a quarter turn every two weeks. This way every side gets equal light and the plant grows straight and symmetrical.
Does the plant come in a pot? +

The plant arrives in a plastic grower's pot — and our recommendation is to leave it there. A grower's pot is designed specifically for this: preserving the plant, drainage, and optimal soil aeration — much better than most decorative pots (except for terracotta).

So how to incorporate it with a beautiful vase? Simple — place the pot as is inside the vase. No need to replant, no need to touch the roots. And if tomorrow you want a vase with a different design — take it out, put it in the new one, done.

We have a large selection of decorative vases and pots in the shop — you can add them to your order.
