What is a Dischidia? A family of small epiphytic plants with rounded, thick leaves that climb on thin wires. They are slow-growing, compact, and beautiful — perfect for a tiny terrarium. In the glass goblet, the plant climbs a thin wire above a layer of moss and a decorative seashell — a miniature composition that develops slowly with care.
💧 Watering — The goblet is open, simple and easy ▼

The goblet is open at the top — no need for special ventilation or guesswork regarding internal humidity. Care is very similar to a regular potted plant.

The Rule: When the moss begins to feel dry to the touch — gently pour a few tablespoons of water onto the moss. Dischidia stores water in its thick, rounded leaves, making it forgiving of slight dryness.

Sign of overwatering: Soft, black leaves. Sign of dryness: Leaves shrivel and pucker but remain green.

✨ Care and Maintenance ▼

Growth: The plant grows slowly — no frequent pruning needed. If you wish to shape the climbing direction, you can gently guide the stems along the wire.

Cleaning: Wipe the inside of the glass occasionally with a dry swab to maintain clarity and a clean look.

Fertilizing: Not required in the first year. Afterwards — use a highly diluted liquid fertilizer every few months, lightly misted onto the leaves.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the plant suitable for beginners? +
Absolutely — Dischidia is a forgiving, slow-growing plant, and the open goblet maintains stable conditions on its own. Suitable for anyone who wants a small, unique plant that doesn't require daily attention.
Is the seashell part of the design or incidental? +
The seashell is part of the decorative composition — placed on the moss layer as a design element. It contains no living organisms; it is purely for decoration.
Can the plant be moved to a regular pot in the future? +
Yes — if the plant grows and outgrows the goblet, it can be gently moved to a pot with a well-draining aroid mix. The plant will adapt easily, but the current open goblet provides comfortable growing conditions for a long time.
