Gazania , also known as the "Treasure Flower", is the star of the Israeli summer! The large, impressive flowers in warm shades of orange, yellow, red and pink open every morning with the sun and close in the evening or on a cloudy day. It comes from South Africa and feels at home in the Israeli heat - drought-resistant, loves the sun, and requires almost no care. The perfect solution for a sunny garden or balcony!
🌱 Growing conditions
⚠️ Common problems and solutions
- Flowers not opening: This is natural! The flowers close on cloudy days and in the evening
- No flowers: Lack of sun! Gazania needs full sun to bloom
- Yellow leaves and rot: Overwatering or poor drainage. Reduce watering!
- A low, thin plant: too rich soil or shade. It needs lean soil and sun.
- Gray mold: Humidity too high. Improve ventilation and reduce watering.
- Aphids: Not common, but if present - treat with potassium soap
💚 Why choose Gazania?

- 💪 Extremely easy: almost impossible to kill (if you don't water it too much!)
- 🐾 Safe for pets: non-toxic to dogs and cats
- 🦋 Attracts butterflies: and bees to the garden
- 🏠 Ground cover: spreads and creates a flowering carpet

The most common mistake with gazanias? Overwatering! Gazanias come from dry areas and prefer dry soil. Too much water = root rot = death. Water only when the soil is completely dry, and make sure it has excellent drainage. Another tip: remove wilted flowers to encourage more blooms - although it will bloom without it!
