🐌 About Begonia Escargot
Begonia rex 'Escargot' is one of the most famous begonias in the world—and for good reason. The leaves are curled in a snail-like shape ("Escargot" means snail in French) with an amazing velvety texture in shades of silvery-green with maroon-red edges.
Each leaf is a work of art in itself—the spiral coil formed at the base of the leaf is a unique genetic trait that makes people take a second look.
A purely decorative plant—perfect for a windowsill, a shelf, or as a focal point in a room. Give it indirect light and proper humidity, and it will reward you with spectacular growth.

Bright indirect light. Direct sun will burn the sensitive leaves. An east or north-facing windowsill is ideal.

Once a week ~ Bottom watering is best – place in a saucer with water for 15 minutes. Water on the leaves = spots.

High humidity – but do not spray directly on the leaves! A pebble and water tray or a humidifier are perfect.

18°C–26°C. Does not like drafts, cold, or direct AC. In winter – keep away from cold windows.

❓ Why are there white spots on the leaves?
Usually water that fell directly on the leaves. Always water from the bottom or directly into the soil, and do not spray. White spots can also be powdery mildew – a fungicide spray will solve it.
❓ The leaves are drooping – what to do?
A sign of thirst! Water immediately with ~100ml and the plant will recover within hours. If the soil is wet and it's still drooping – it's a drainage issue, check that the pot has holes.
❓ Can I propagate the plant?
Absolutely! Cut a leaf with a short stem, place in water or directly into moist soil. Roots will grow within 3–4 weeks.
❓ The plant is slowing down in winter – is that normal?
Yes. Reduce watering to once every two weeks, stop fertilizing, and wait for spring – the plant will burst back to life.
