Detailed information
🌅 Rex Begonia Evening Glow – A sunset glow!
Meet the Begonia Rex 'Evening Glow' – one of the most stunning begonias in existence! Large heart-shaped leaves with a dizzying combination of intense pink, metallic silver, dark green, and burgundy – just like the sky at sunset! Every leaf is a work of art with spiral patterns and dark veins that look like a watercolor painting. The Queen of Begonias – a plant you simply cannot stop looking at!
🌤️ Growing conditions
☀️ Lighting: Bright indirect light – the key to intense colors! No direct sun that burns the sensitive leaves. A north/east window, or a window with a curtain – perfect.
💧 Watering: Moderate. Let the top layer dry out. Every 5-7 days in summer, 10-14 in winter. Very important: do not water the leaves!
🌡️ Temperature: 16-27°C (61-80°F). Sensitive to cold – not below 13°C (55°F). Keep away from air conditioning and direct heating.
🌱 Soil: Light, airy, and well-draining. Potting mix + perlite. Rex begonias hate "wet feet"!
💦 Humidity: High! That's the secret. A pebble tray with water – yes. Direct misting on the leaves – no! (causes spots and mold).

⚠️ Important to know
💧 No water on leaves! – That's rule #1 with Rex begonias! Water on the leaves = spots, mold, rot. Water only the soil.
☀️ No direct sun! – The colorful leaves scorch easily. Bright indirect light only.
💦 Humidity yes, misting no! – Pebble tray, humidifier, clustering plants – yes. Direct misting on leaves – no!
💧 Overwatering = death! – Rex is very sensitive to overwatering. Excellent drainage + let the soil dry out on top.
🎨 Fading colors? – The plant needs more light! In low light, the colors lose intensity.

🌅 Care tips
💧 Bottom watering! – The best tip for Rex: place the pot in a tray of water for 15-20 minutes and let the soil absorb from below. That way you don't touch the leaves!
✂️ Pruning – Remove old and damaged leaves. Encourages new and colorful growth.
🌿 Fertilizing – Diluted liquid fertilizer (half dose) every 2-3 weeks in spring-summer. Stop in winter.
🔄 Propagation – You can propagate from leaf cuttings! Cut a leaf, place in moist soil with perlite, and within weeks new plants will grow.
🪴 Shallow pot – Rex prefers shallow and wide pots over deep ones, because the roots are shallow.
🔀 Rotate – Rotate weekly for uniform growth and equal color coverage from all sides. 🌅

❓ Frequently Asked Questions
❓ What is a Rex Begonia? – "Rex" is a group of begonias grown primarily for their colorful leaves (not the flowers). They are known for crazy color combinations: pink, silver, purple, red, green, and more.
❓ Why are the leaves losing color? – Usually lack of light. Move to a brighter spot (indirect light!). The colors will return in the new leaves.
❓ The leaves are rotting – why? – Almost always: water on the leaves or overwatering. Switch to bottom watering and reduce frequency.
❓ The plant is getting "bald" – normal? – Rex begonias go through a rest period (usually in winter) and may shed leaves. Continues growing in the spring. Reduce watering in winter.
❓ What is the difference from a regular begonia? – A "regular" begonia (like semperflorens) is grown for its flowers. Rex is grown for its spectacular leaves – its flowers are small and insignificant.
❓ Hard to grow? – Rex is more demanding than regular plants, but with 3 simple rules it will thrive: 1) No water on leaves 2) High humidity 3) Bright indirect light. That's it! 🌅
