Growing conditions

☀️ Lighting

Bright, indirect light. A north or east window is ideal. In winter, allow gentle direct light. Not strong direct sun! Strong sun will cause wilting and rapid yellowing.

💧 Irrigation

From the bottom only! Place the pot in a dish of water for 10-15 minutes and drain. The tuber sits half above the ground and is susceptible to rot. Water when the soil is dry to the touch. In the summer (dormant) - almost no watering.

💨 Humidity

Likes high humidity (50%+). A tray of pebbles with water under the pot helps a lot. Do not spray on the leaves! Moisture on the leaves causes fungal diseases.

🌡️ Temperature

Loves cold! 10-18°C is ideal. This is the secret to success! Heat = early sleep. Keep away from heating, radiators and air conditioners. At night even 10°C is excellent. In Israel - a shaded balcony in winter is perfect!

Common problems and solutions

💛 Yellow leaves

Too hot! Cyclamen goes dormant in the heat. Move to a cooler location. Could also be overwatering or lack of light.

🥀 Flowers wither quickly

Too hot or too dry! Ensure cool temperature and high humidity. Keep away from heating and hot windows.

🍂 Tuber rot

Watering from above! Always water from below. Make sure the tuber is not completely submerged in the soil - half should be above ground level.

😴 Fell asleep in the summer

It's completely natural! Cyclamen is a winter plant - it goes dormant in the summer and wakes up in the fall. Reduce watering, keep in a cool, dry place, and wait for fall.

Cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum) is the national flower of Israel! 🇮🇱 A charming plant from the cyclamen family, native to the Mediterranean region - including Israel, where it grows wild on rocky, shady slopes.

Blooms: Delicate butterfly-shaped flowers with petals that curve back. Colors: white, pink, red, purple, and lavender - sometimes with fringes or patterns. Blooms for 2-4 months in winter!

Foliage: Heart-shaped leaves with spectacular silver patterns - beautiful even when the plant is not blooming! The leaves emerge from a flat tuber that sits halfway above the ground.

Life cycle: A winter plant! Blooms from fall to spring, goes dormant in the summer (the leaves wither - that's natural!), and wakes up again in the fall. With proper care, it will bloom again for many years!

💡 Professional tips

Removing flowers: Pull the stem with a sharp twist from the bulb (do not cut!). Fertilizing: Once every two weeks during the flowering season with a fertilizer low in nitrogen. In summer: Move to a cool, dry, and shady place - a basement or a north-facing balcony are excellent. Autumn: When you see new leaves - resume watering and return to light! 🦋
