Chrysanthemum contains pyrethrin - a natural pesticide! It has been used for centuries to repel insects. The plant itself keeps mosquitoes and flies away from the garden. Ironically, such a beautiful plant is also a natural "insecticide"!

Pinching = More Flowers! Pinch (trim) the ends of the stems in spring and early summer to encourage branching and more flowers. Stop pinching in mid-July to let the buds develop. After flowering: prune to 10 cm from the ground and cover with mulch for the winter. ๐
