🌑 About the Midnight Shadow Begonia
The King Solomon 'Midnight Shadow' Begonia (Begonia rex 'Midnight Shadow') is one of the most dramatic begonias available. Dark, almost black-purple leaves with bright pink-red spots that look like sparks in the night—a combination that makes everyone who sees it stop and look twice.
The "King Solomon" variety is known for its exceptionally large leaves with a rich velvety texture, and "Midnight Shadow" refers to its unique deep, dark hue.
A next-level decorative plant—perfect as a focal point in the living room, on a shelf, or a table. Its darkness contrasts with other colors, creating a powerful design statement.

🌿 Daily Care
☀️
Light
Bright indirect light. Important tip: More light = brighter pink spots! Direct sun will burn the leaves.
💧
Watering
Once a week, ~100ml. Best from below—place in a saucer with water for 15 minutes. Water on the leaves = spots.
🌫️
Humidity
Do not mist the leaves! A pebble tray with water or a humidifier nearby is perfect for maintaining high humidity.
🌡️
Temperature
18°C–26°C. Does not like drafts, direct AC, or a cold window in winter. Keep in a stable and comfortable spot.
❓ FAQ
❓ Why are the pink spots becoming less visible?
Usually due to a lack of light. Move to a brighter location (indirect light)—within weeks, the contrast between the dark and pink will strengthen again.
❓ Why are there spots on the leaves?
Water that landed directly on the leaves. Always water from below or directly into the soil only. Every spot shows up clearly on the dark leaves.
❓ Can it be propagated?
Yes! Cut a leaf with a short stem and place it in moist soil. Roots will appear within 3–4 weeks. Each leaf can become a new plant.
❓ The plant is slowing down in winter—is that normal?
Yes. Reduce watering to once every two weeks, stop fertilizing. It will burst back to life in spring with new leaves.
