Sedum is a family of extremely hardy succulents that thrive almost anywhere! Over 600 species in various shapes, sizes, and colors - from low ground covers to tall shrubs with spectacular blooms. Succulent leaves that store water, exceptional resistance to drought and harsh conditions, and minimal care. The champions of the rock garden and green roof!

🌱 Growing conditions
  • Light: Full sun is ideal! Also tolerates partial shade (less flowering)
  • Watering: Very little! Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. Excess water = the main problem
  • Temperature: Most varieties are resistant to cold (-20°C and above!) and extreme heat.
  • Soil: Well-drained - essential! Thin, stony soil is excellent. Does not like rich soil
  • Fertilization: Almost not needed! Light fertilization in spring if desired
  • Pruning: Remove dead flowers. Some varieties die back in winter and re-bloom in spring.
  • Propagation: Very easy! A single leaf or small branch roots easily.
⚠️ Common problems and solutions
  • Rot: Problem #1! Always from overwatering or poor drainage. Reduce watering drastically
  • A long, thin plant: lack of light. Move to a sunnier location.
  • Yellow/transparent leaves: Too much water! Stop watering, check drainage
  • Wrinkled leaves: Thirst - rare but possible. Water moderately.
  • No blooms: lack of sun or the plant is too young. Be patient!
  • Aphids: Check at leaf nodes. Treat with alcohol or soap.
  • Snails: Love succulent leaves. Keep them away by hand or scatter granules.

  • 🏠 Green Roofs: The Perfect Choice for Green Roofs and Walls

Professional tip

Golden rule: When in doubt? Don't water! Cypress prefers dryness to moisture. Magical propagation: A leaf that falls to the ground will root on its own! Just place leaves on dry soil and wait. Bright colors: Sun + "light stress" (dryness, cold) intensifies red and orange colors. Winter: Tall varieties (like Autumn Joy) look dead in winter - that's natural! Don't overdo it, they will regenerate in spring. DIY green roof: Cypress is the perfect base - spread thin soil, spread cuttings, and wait!
