☀️ Lighting
Full sun for best flowering! Also tolerates partial shade. In full sun - more flowers. In shade - less flowering but beautiful foliage. Also suitable for west or east orientation.
💧 Irrigation
Drought tolerant! After establishment - needs very little water. Water deeply every 1-4 weeks depending on the weather. During the establishment phase - water more regularly.
🌱 Earth
Well-drained! Adapts to a variety of soil types - sandy, loamy, and even clay. Prefers slightly acidic soil (pH 6-7). Add compost when planting.
🌡️ Temperature
Sturdy and tolerant! Suitable for hardiness zones 9-11. Tolerates light frost down to -5°C but not heavy frost. In Israel - suitable for most areas! Evergreen.
Common problems and solutions
🌸 Little bloom
Usually due to lack of sun - move to a brighter location. It could also be pruning at the wrong time (after buds form) or over-fertilizing with nitrogen - encouraging leaves instead of flowers.
💛 Yellow leaves
Could be overwatering or lack of nutrition . Check drainage and let the soil dry out. If the problem persists - fertilize with a balanced fertilizer in the spring.
🐛 "Sweet" leaves
Sometimes insects eat the leaf tissue and leave only the "skeleton". This happens occasionally and does not endanger the plant. If severe - treat with potassium soap.
🌿 Uncontrolled growth
Australian violet grows quickly and can "run away". Prune after flowering to maintain shape. Can be pruned back to one-third of its size if necessary.
