According to the ASPCA, rubber ficus is not recommended for dogs and cats. The milky resin contains ficin and psoralen, which can cause mouth irritation, increased salivation, vomiting, and skin irritation on contact. Recommended: Place in a high place where pets cannot reach, or choose a safer alternative plant such as Peperomia ("American rubber").
