๐ Aloxia Regal Shield - "The Royal Elephant Ear"
A dramatic and impressive plant with huge, shield-shaped leaves in a dark green, almost black color, with a deep purple-burgundy underside . Each leaf is a work of art that can reach a length of 60 cm!
The "Regal Shield" is a cross between two Aloxa varieties, and the result is an architectural, wild, and grandiose plant that turns any corner into a tropical jungle. It is not a shy plant - it demands space, attention, and in return gives a presence that cannot be ignored.
The huge dark leaves with purple undersides are a real statement piece. This is not a plant that disappears into the background!
Under good conditions, it can reach a height of 1.5-2 meters within two years! New leaves emerge and open at an impressive rate.
The sculptural shape of the leaves and long stems make it a design element in itself.
Despite its large leaves, it is relatively durable and is also suitable for sheltered balconies and patios.
Like other houseplants, it contributes to filtering the air and cleansing it of toxins.
Important: This plant needs space! Plan in advance where you will put it when it grows.

๐ก Tip: The leaves face the light - rotate the pot occasionally so that the plant grows evenly on all sides.
Keep soil moist but not wet. Water when the top layer (2-3 cm) is dry.
Summer: once or twice a week | Winter: reduce significantly
Bright, indirect light. Not direct sun - it will burn the leaves! A bright spot near a window with a curtain is ideal.
Likes high humidity (60-80%). You can spray, use a pebble tray with water, or a humidifier. A bright bathroom = heaven!
18-27ยฐC. Does not tolerate cold below 15ยฐC! Keep away from air conditioners and cold openings.
Rich, well-drained soil (mixture with perlite and wood bark). Diluted fertilizer once a month in spring-summer.
In winter, the plant may slow down growth or shed leaves - this is normal! Reduce watering and wait for spring. It will wake up.
Aloxia sheds old leaves as part of its natural growth process. Every new leaf that grows = an old leaf that falls. That's okay!
Are the leaves "weeping" (drops of water on the edges)? This is a sign that you have watered too much or the humidity is too high. Let the soil dry out a bit.
Aloxia produces small "bulbs" underground from which new plants can be grown. When moving a pot - you can separate and plant!
